Research Expertise:
Dr. Anastasiia Shevchenko is Senior FNS Researcher at the University of Lausanne. Her specialization is family history and intellectual history of Ukraine in the 19th-20th centuries. She is the author of the project Restore#UACulture which is aimed at researching and highlighting cases of destruction of cultural values of Ukraine as a result of the full-scale military invasion of Russia.
She has ten years of experience as a journalist and editor in Ukraine. She is the author of more than 50 interviews and about 20 journalistic investigations (еxample here).
Dr. Shevchenko heads the representative office of the Ukrainian Scientific Diaspora network in Switzerland, the purpose of which is to unite the efforts of Ukrainian scholars from different waves of migration for the effective integration of Ukrainian scholarship into the international academic community.
Ms. Nataliya Borys | Secretary
Born in Ukraine, Nataliya Borys has previously studied at the University of Geneva and Central European University (Budapest) in history and area studies. With a talent for organizing and coordinating, she excels in executing a wide range of events, including PhD workshops, exhibitions, conferences, films, and podcasts. Currently working as a community interpreter in Geneva, Nataliya actively supports various NGOs and coordinates documentary and science films, along with cultural projects like exhibitions and publications. Her work in the Caucasus region has focused on empowering local youth, and she played a key role in implementing the Swiss pavilion at the Silk Road Forum in Iran. At this moment, Nataliya manages cultural diplomacy activities and runs her blog, Fiat Lux, where she shares insights on topics such as the war in Ukraine, oral history, ethnographic projects, science diplomacy, and cultural heritage.
